While planning client strategies for this year I have been researching the recent Google algorithm changes and reviewing the search trends from last year. Whenever you want to move forward in marketing, you have to take a look back first.
The economic climate has become increasingly uncertain, prompting people to be more mindful of their purchases. Alternately, hybrid experiences have shifted the way people interact with one another. To better understand these emerging needs and behaviors, Google analyzed billions of Search trends in order to provide marketers with actionable insights for 2023.
In all this research Google identified three distinct consumer trends that will shape businesses and users’ year ahead.
Here they are:
1. Value, reevaluated
As people become increasingly concerned about the future, they are looking for items and experiences that offer good value. Value is not only based on price point but also includes brand trustworthiness as determined by reviews, product popularity, and sustainable options.
2. Aid and allyship
Movements advocating for identity and equality are having a major impact. The tribulations of the past year have cultivated compassion in individuals, their neighbors, and other communities outside of their own. This has motivated action throughout the country and around the globe.
3. Revising priorities
People are seeking out products and activities that can help them de-stress. They are conducting more research in order to make informed decisions and the option of hybrid work provides them with the flexibility to allocate time for what matters most to them.
Looking Ahead
In 2023, Americans will encounter many new obstacles. Marketers can get ahead of the curve by combining traditional tactics with fresh ideas and Google’s AI technology. Adopting this “tried-and-new” approach of reliable practices and cutting-edge technology enables teams to create attention-grabbing content while remaining agile in the future.
