Looks like things just got a little sweeter for Facebook. With all the changes this week who knew, this one was coming? Miramax is partnering with Facebook to launch an app to allow users to rent movies directly from Facebook. It’s still in the young beginning stages, so it’s limited to 20 titles for the U.S. but will open up more titles in time.
Access will include computer, t.v., smartphone and other platforms in which you’re able to access Facebook.
Rentals will cost about 30 Facebook credits, which in real money amounts to $3. Once you’ve rented the movie you will have 48 hours to finish the movie. Now keep in mind the app is still in beta but should be available immediately.
I personally think $3 is still a bit pricey per a rental, but Facebook is truly turning into your one stop shop. If they could iron out the prices to be a lil more competitively cheaper, why would you go anywhere else?
I was talking about the YouTube video rentals earlier today. They are $3-4 per too and I was thinking the same thing, that much per rental is pretty pricey when you think about comparing it to a Netflix pass with unlimited rentals with no expiration date. Still, is FaceBook trying to make it so you never have to leave their site? Dang. We need to jump on board! Let’s make an app 🙂
Thank you so much for this artlice, it saved me time!
